Tutorial: In-Pattern Increases for the Whitman Hat and Mitts
K1, P1 In-Pattern Increases: kfb and k1-r/b (or k1b or k-b)
In both the Whitman hat and the Whitman Fingerless Mitts I work both the increases and decreases in pattern for a seamless look. “In pattern” means that the increased (or decreased) stitch follows the established stitch pattern. In this case, the pattern repeat is [k1, p1] so increases happen in sets: a kfb worked over a k1, followed by a k1-r/b worked over a p1 which yields [k1, p1, k1, p1].
